Beaumont ISD hosted a Parents' Night focused on helping children deal with the trauma of Hurricane Harvey. At the event, CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth's Certified Child Life Specialist, Ashley Bares, spoke with parents about coping strategies for children of different developmental ages. Bares provided parents with helpful resources and gave kids activity books with crayons donated by Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in Southeast Texas is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for sick and injured kids at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth and Jasper Memorial. Located in Beaumont, Texas, CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth is 431-bed acute care and trauma center. St. Elizabeth is a regional leader in general surgery, critical care and trauma, birthing, neonatal care, and more. St. Elizabeth’s Effie M. Hebert Pediatric Center features the latest in pediatric technology and includes a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) that utilizes the latest monitoring and therapeutic equipment. The Pediatric Center’s colorful and warm environment meets each child's emotional needs while providing comfort to families and caregivers. St. Elizabeth’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) offers babies born as young as 28 weeks gestation the opportunity to stay close to home as they grow and develop under the care of highly-trained, neonatal staff 24 hours a day. Since 1977, the Level III NICU has been caring for Southeast Texas’ youngest patients and, with the addition of the NICU transport team, St. Elizabeth is able to care for even more critically ill infants. As the largest Magnet hospital between Houston and Baton Rouge, CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth offers a positive, patient-focused environment providing the highest level of care possible for the community.

Located in Jasper, Texas, CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Jasper Memorial is a 59-bed medical facility that serves approximately 45,000 East Texas residents. Jasper Memorial is a general medical/surgical hospital with medical imaging, laboratory services, and labor/delivery/recovery obstetrical suites. Providing 24-hour emergency care, the C. Bryce Thomas Memorial Emergency Department is a state-designated Level IV trauma center, offering stabilization and transfer services to patients, as well as urgent care services.
