Bruce Allred Memorial Golf Tournament Raises $10,000 for Hospitalized Kids

Trinity United Methodist Church presented Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals with a $10,000 check Thursday, September 6, at the CHRISTUS Outpatient Pavilion in Beaumont.

The funds were raised by the Bruce Allred Memorial Golf Tournament, named after Walter Bruce Allred, an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and founder of Golden Triangle Dairy Queen Incorporated.

Bruce’s wife, Jan Allred, said her husband, an avid golfer, had an enduring desire to help children, and advocated to do so through a golf tournament benefiting the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

This vision was realized following his death in 2005, when the church founded the Bruce Allred Memorial Golf Tournament.

“We’re really proud to see how it has grown,” Allred said. “It makes you feel good when you can help somebody — especially the children right here in our own community.”

Since 2006, the tournament has raised more than $80,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
