St. Mary’s 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off

Administrators at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Mary hosted the 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off on Thursday, October 25th. Hospital departments were challenged to put their own spin on the classic comfort food and enter the cook-off to help raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Several chili recipes entered, but only three could win. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. associates donated $1 to taste every chili recipe and vote for their favorite. Those who wanted more could donate $2 to get a lunch bowl.

Wooden Spoon trophies were awarded to the hospital departments with the top three recipes:
1^st Place: Day Surgery – Code Red Chili
2^nd Place: 4SA Short Stay Unit – We Bean Business
3^rd Place: Endo – Chili Chili Bang Bang

“Thank you to everyone who participated in St. Mary’s 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off,” said Kristen Watkins, Administration Director. “It was a morale booster and lots of fun. Congratulations to our winners of the Wooden Spoon trophies and one year of bragging rights.”
